Harvesting Art

Problem: Small communities in rural locations are experiencing a loss in community spirit, engagement, and involvement. Small businesses and artists located in these rural locations are also affected by a decrease in revenue and interest.

Solution: Harvesting Art was created to inspire rural communities in Illinois and Indiana to use public art to boost tourism and engagement. Harvesting Art provides tools to small communities that assist in promoting public art projects for community members and small businesses.

A brand guideline and logo was established for consistent branding. This image includes the main Harvesting Art logo, brand colors, submark, iconography, and other spotlight logos created for the project.

Social media posts and light pole banners were created to reach new audiences and promote public art related events in communities partnering with Harvesting Art.

A handbook for adapting the booklet will be provided to small community leadership to learn how to use the booklet. Tips and ideas are provided for inspiration to get started in the public art journey.

“Getting bigger isn’t the solution. Getting better is. If you design it for the tourists, you’re making a mistake. Design it for your community. Then the others will come.”
